Motivation, not Willpower
Making the decision to change something about ourselves is easy, but actually succeeding in making that change can be quite another matter. Whether it is breaking the smoking habit, reaching that target weight or overcoming a fear of flying, sometimes willpower alone is not enough. In fact, willpower often fails leading to further disappointment and frustration.
At the start of treatment, clients are always asked what it is they wish to achieve and how exactly they wish to feel. The individual's aims and desires are the driving force of this most natural of therapies.
